ABOUT PROPP
Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp (︎ 1970), was a Soviet scholar who analysed the basic structural elements of popular folk tales to identify their simplest irreducible structural units, identifying 31 functions and 7 main abstract character, such as the hero, the villain or the donor, occurring within each story.
His model could be applied to any types of narrative, be it in literature, theatre, film, television series or games to break down the plot in a extreme semplification, typical of problem solving’s methodologies such as the design process.
Propp in the humanities made a parallel accomplishment to that of Robert Oppenheimer working in the hard sciences: the latter split the atom, the former split the narrative. We try to do the same, working humbly, day by day, for our clients and their public.
EDUCATION
Alongside the professional activity, the studio is strongly committed in the education field teaching, lecturing and consulting for Accademia Abadir, IED - Istituto Europeo di Design, NABA - Nuova Accademia Bella Arti and the Design Faculty of Milan Politecnico.
FOUNDERS
PIERLUIGI ANSELMIPierluigi is a photographer and director. He set up is own studio right after the diploma in interior design at Milan Politecnico and he is working in the field since 2005. He teaches Storytelling in NABA Milan and has taught in courses and workshop for Accademia Abadir and Milan Politecnico.
PIETRO BUFFA
Pietro is a graphic and information designer with substantial experience in both on-line and off-line media format, specializing in data visualization and editorial design for cultural and commercial institutions. He is a visiting professor at the Design Faculty of Milan Politecnico.
ALESSANDRO C. BUSSENI
Alessandro is a graphic designer and illustrator. He has worked for Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, Leftloft, Domus Academy Research Center and Hearst Magazines. He is Coordinator for the Master in Graphic Design in IED Milan and has taught in courses and workshop for Accademia Abadir, NABA and Milan Politecnico.
